weather policy

Whether it’s extremely hot outside, raining cats and dogs, or there’s a snow storm or icy conditions, here’s how we’ll handle each scenario

HOT WEATHER SAFETY

While dog walking is our job, in the event of extreme heat, 90 degrees and above, we will use our best judgment in caring for your pets. We will try to carry out your instructions to the best of our ability. We reserve the right to shorten outdoor play and walk time to ensure the safety of your pet and our employees.

Various surfaces can greatly vary in temperature on a hot day. We use the 10-second rule. If we can’t comfortably keep our hand on the walking surface for at least 10 seconds, that surface is too hot and we will look for an alternative route.

We will give your pet enough time to eliminate outdoors but then make sure they get some playtime indoors. No matter what we decide, we will always inform our clients of shortened walks and any changes to their pet’s usual routine.

We use the chart below, courtesy of PetPlan Pet Insurance, to determine the safety and duration of our walks.

INCLEMENT WEATHER SAFETY

As long as the road conditions are safe for our employees, we will make every attempt to get to your pets. Please keep in mind that weather conditions vary from town to town. Weather further out north and west is always colder and icier. For example, Randolph and Roxbury areas always have icier conditions and more snow accumulation than Morristown. When Morris County and/or Sussex County public schools are closed due to bad weather, we reserve the right to cancel any dog walking appointments. In this case, cancellation fees will be waived. If we cannot reach your home, clients will be notified immediately and emergency contact person will be notified.

For pet sitting clients, again, we will make every attempt to get to your pets. In the event that it’s not safe for us to do so, we will contact your emergency contact right away. Your emergency contact should always be someone that you trust and lives close by, like a neighbor. Cancellation fees will be waived and clients will be notified immediately.

SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL

It is the client’s responsibility to remove all snow and ice from their driveway, stairs, walkways, entrances and exits. Please make arrangements for someone to come prior to our arrival. NO credits will be honored if we are unable to reach your home due to snow or ice. Emergency contact person will be notified.

IMPORTANT NOTE

If clients choose to cancel their scheduled services because they will be working from home or will no longer be leaving their home for the day, our cancellation policy will apply. Please click HERE to review our cancellation policy.
